UPWARD by Huang Yulong was a striking sculpture exhibition presented at the Hong Kong Observation Wheel and AIA Vitality Park during Art Month.

Featuring over 20 large-scale hoodiedfigures facing towards the Hong Kong skyline, the exhibition embodied themes of optimism, positivity, and collective upward and forward momentum. Created in partnership with Ora-Ora, the installation brought contemporary street culture into the heart of the city. Timed alongside major events including Art Week, Magic Room and the Hong Kong Sevens, UPWARD contributed to a vibrant month of arts and cultre. A major artwork, Be My Side (L), now remains on permanent display at the site.

Born in Anhui, China, Huang Yulong is a hugely popular artist in his native China and has exhibited extensively overseas, including in Paris. UPWARD – Huang Yulong takes his hip-hop, street culture style to new heights and never-before-seen scale.

In 2018, he collaborated with superstar Andy Lau on a sculpture series titled: Share the Love. Huang Yulong’s sculpture Be You, depicting a hooded figure on a large hand, formed part of the 1/X Andy Lau X Art Exhibition in West Kowloon Cultural District in 2023.
